G'Day Everyone,
He's back again with some catch-up news about the CD (CD what CD you may ask???). Well it appears to happen that when we are about to produce it something or someone comes along and it requires changes. I have said to Steve that the moment we finally produce it it will be out of date. Sounds like a typical Army publication aye?
Anyway, Steve tells me this time we are going for the 13th of December for publication and distribution to you soon after then (I hope). What has changed you may ask - Two classmates who we all presumed departed have been found alive and well. Poor David OTTON received the biggest shock when KUNNY Prak contacted us to say he is alive and living in the USA. His nephew just happened to do an Internet search using Kunny's name and found him on our website. Many emails and phone calls have occurred since then and you will find his email address in the group. A BIG Welcome back classmate Kunny Prak, we hope you will be able to join us in 2008 for the 35th Reunion?
Similarly, our Malaysian Classmate Megat YUSOF has also been found alive and well. He is a Brigadier and Chief of Staff in the Malaysian Army. He too, was another surprised classmate to see we had remembered him and had mourned his passing at the Reunion. The words from 'Amazing Grace" come appropriately to mind from our era "Once was lost but now am found" and isn't it simply brilliant we have found our two lost classmates once again.
According to Eastern beliefs if a person was thought to be dead but subsequently found to be alive they will live a long and joyous life. In the case of classmates Kunny and Yusof we sincerely hope this will be the case.
Another classmate to reappear is that intrepid Infantryman Stephan BORTON and he has joined the email list. Welcome Steve, great to have you back in the fold again mate. Let us also hope those other classmates who we have been unable to contact will do likewise and join the group.
Neil MANEFIELD has contacted us to say hello and that he is also alive and kicking. Regrettably, he does not want to join the email group at this time. Hopefully, by 2008 we can change his mind.
Well folks, must away for now. Some of you might also like to up-date your Favourites for the website (http://www.jeanpierreatfringe.com.au/reunion_index.htm). Hopefully, the next time you hear from me it will be by letter along with your Reunion CD.
Take care and have a very Merry Festive Season and a Happy and Healthy New Year in 2004.
Regards,
Rob
