"A wedding held without permission, celebrated shortly after the groom had been announced as next year's Battalion Sergeant Major, it held at St Patrick' Anglican Church Mt Lawley during Christmas Vacation. The groom was A.J. Ferguson, Bride Miss Suzanne Gardiner, with Russell Crook, Penny Ferguson, Robyne Gardiner and Matthew Ferguson, and the groom's and bride's parents in the background.

The honeymoon took the form of driving across the Nullarbor, returning to restart at Portsea. During his remaining six months at OCS, the secret remained so."

Andrew's response: "One of the issues I would like to correct is the annotation about my wedding in the OCS History book - it was not a secret wedding - I just refused to ask permission - I did tell my CO formally that I was getting married, I omitted to tell F.A. Roberts who as GO was in all sorts of %^&* from the Comd as he did not know anything about it until the CO showed him my letter."
